How COVID 19 Has Caused Fear Of Getting Medical Tests

Posted

By Dorothy York, President and CEO of North American Precis Syndicate (NAPS)

Many people have been afraid to visit their doctors for routinely recommended screening tests, because they don’t want to risk being exposed to COVID 19.  The importance of awareness of the benefits of screening for early detection and prompt treatment has never been greater, and could save lives.

Harvard Medical School has recommended following the guidelines of the U. S. Preventive Services Task Force, an independent panel of experts, regarding which screening tests should be taken to detect hidden disease, in otherwise healthy people.  Here are a few of the most important ones:

1- Blood Pressure
2- Bone Density
3- Breast Cancer
4- Cervical Cancer
5- Colorectal Cancer
6- Diabetes
7- Lung Cancer
8- HIV/AIDS

If you have advice for Americans weighing the benefits of getting tested during a pandemic, please tell your story.  Here are a few of the top health screening awareness stories of the decade, for inspiration:
